Collector's House 2019: acrylic on canvas: 100 x 120 cm

John Bartlett studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1991-94.

His work is held in private and public collections worldwide including the Museum of London, Guildhall Art Gallery, V&A & Royal Academy of Arts.

Over the years he has built up a large eclectic body of work and in 2012-13 the Guildhall Art Gallery London held a mid-career retrospective of his paintings & drawings.

His recent work has returned to drawing driven projects that take their inspiration from a sense of place depicting objects and the space within which they inhabit. Rooms are haunted by the traces of human presence and previous activity. Oscillating between abstraction and representation he employs a range of styles to build up layers of memory and time passed.
